Jason Hewitt insists that Sheffield Steelers will end their Sunday jinx tomorrow.
The club has lost nine out of 11 games on the Sabbath, a curious sequence which has contributed to their modest position of fourth in the table.
“There will be no Sunday curse after this weekend” the winger promised, ahead of the (5pm) League clash with second-from-bottom Fife Flyers.
“We know what Fife are about and they are not going to surprise us.
“They have a great goalie (Kevin Regan, 91 per cent save average) and we are going to have to get on him early and get the puck past him.”
Hewitt isn’t a recognised goalscorer - he has only amassed 2+6 in 26 games so far.
He admits: “I have to produce more offensively. But generally, the scorers have to score and the grinders grind, we all have to fulfil our roles.”
Steelers, who play a Challenge Cup game in Hull tonight, (6.30pm) are expected to be without concussion victims Rob Dowd and Dustin Kohn again.
