Sheffield Steelers have offered contracts to two Canadian forwards - as they try and get their Summer recruitment campaign well and truly off the ground.
Both men would be new to the UK Elite League - and one has a pedigree as a “robust” up and down winger - and therefore filling in the gap left by Tim spencer’s move back to the AHL.
Coach Gerad Adams said: “Things have moved on a lot this past week. Our options have opened up considerably and we are close to putting the final pieces together.
“We are just sorting the paperwork out. One piece will trigger off where we go with the next signing and so on.
“I know it’s been frustrating seeing other teams sign players and us not, but we haven’t stood back doing nothing. We have monitored pretty much every player looking to move to Europe, those who would suit our league and consider coming here. We have made offers, held offers open and are now pushing forward to try and put the best team we can.”
The coach added: “It would be wrong to rush and make rash signings now, especially as we have been so patient this summer in trying to do the right thing. The signings are close and the fans will be happy.
“I think our team will be exciting and dynamic. We will play with an edge.”
