Steelers will be in the risk-taking business if Stefan Meyer declines a second-year deal at the club.
So says team-mate Rob Dowd of the forward who notched 54 points in 57 League games in his maiden Sheffield campaign.
Meyer is being courted by other clubs, including Coventry Blaze. Dowd said: “Imports are replaceable to a certain extent. But he was a great guy in the room, put up great numbers. You always take a gamble if you try and replace a guy with another name that you’ve never watched play. With Stefan Meyer you know what you are getting, goals and physicality.”
The Sheffield GB winger added: “It is a big decision he is going to have to make. If he picks Sheffield it’s a great choice for us.
“He had a great (first) year and if he improves on that it would be fantastic. He was a threat every time he was on the ice.”
Dowd believes the three Arena teams Sheffield, Belfast and Nottingham, will be the main forces in contesting the League title this coming season.
