Sheffield Steelers banged in two goals in two minutes to take early charge at Fife Flyers.
Skipper Steve Goertzen and Jeff Legue scored in the 10th and 12 minute in Scotland.
The goals were set up by defencemen roaming forward, the second strike coming on the Power Play.
Just back from suspension, Sheffield import d-man Gord Baldwin was soon back in trouble - sitting two + 10 mins for hooking and abuse of official at 26:07 - a period of heavy penalty box occupancy for the visitors.
But despite that, they kept a clean-sheet.
And they forged further ahead at 49:47 Rob Dowd making it 3-0 for Sheffield.
Fife had a purple patch in the remaining 10 minutes.
They had a goal disallowed and brought the best out of Steeler netminder Frank Doyle.
But they couldn’t breach the wall.
