SHEFFIELD Steelers ran up a slightly flattering 7-3 win over Braehead Clan tonight.
They had led 3-0 but were then penned back for much of the rest of the game.
At 4-3 up, iceSheffield fans were on the edge of their seats.
Lee Esders was man of the match, but it was reassuring to see forwards like Shawn Limpright and Colin Shields score late goals.
A full round up in Monday’s Star.

Coventry Blaze 3 Cardiff Devils 4 (After Overtime)

THE TWO sides that lined up against each other at Cardiff Devils’ rink tonight were not exactly form teams. Sheffield Steelers were beaten twice at home last weekend.
While Devils, who were facing their old player Tylor Michel for the first time, had suffered a four-game losing streak.
Sheffield, despite their woes, started the evening top of the Elite League, although they have games in hand over all their rivals.
Steelers, who cut Cory Pecker from their roster and are seeking a replacement, went behind to a former player. Phil Hill, on the Power Play at 11;02.
Mac Faulkner added to Cardiff’s haul in the second period and Steelers’ recent difficulties appeared to be reappearing.
But defenceman Matt Stephenson got Sheffield back in the game.
Sheffield became more offensive in the last session.
But they couldn’t find the equaliser, going down 2-1.
