Sheffield Steelers keep pressure on leaders

Sheffield Steelers

Sheffield Steelers

Sheffield Steelers’ 5-4 win at Braehead Clan, in an incident packed game last night, wasn’t enough to see them advance up the rankings as second-placed Belfast Giants beat Hull Stingrays by the same score and leaders Nottingham Panthers stormed to a 6-2 win at Coventry Blaze.

Steve Goertzen staked his first hat-trick for Sheffield, in Scotland.

Jonathan Phillips and Rod Sarich got the other goals for the visitors.

It sets up tonight’s massively-important collision with Panthers at Sheffield Arena (5pm.)

A full round-up of weekend matches in Monday’s Star.
