Steelers are facing a financial double-blow at Sheffield Arena.
The club thinks ticket sales for the Boxing Day match with Nottingham Panthers could take a hit as the Arena Box Office is closed from Saturday until Boxing Day itself.
A spokesman said: “Steelers apologies for any inconvenience but the box office situation is out of our hands. Fans can still buy tickets between the 20-26th but on-line only. All in person and telephone bookings will cease after the 20th until 10am on the 26th.” Steelers will also lose a prime date in March if boxer Kell Brook stages fights at the Arena on March 7 - when Belfast Giants are supposed to be in town.
n Sheffield Steeldogs says Janis Ozolins has returned to them a better player. The Latvian left for the Elite League in 2012 at Hull and then
Dundee before heading to France and Latvia. Now he is back in a Dogs shirt. Coach Andre Payette said: “the little guy is better than he was when he was with us before. The League better watch out because we’re going to win a lot of games now”.
Dogs host Bracknell Bees on Sunday and Payette said: “That’s one game I’ll be playing in 100%. We lost Lubomir Korhon to a knee on knee hit and I lost Craig Elliott for a week as he had a baseball swing on his thumb. We are here to do a job and next Sunday we’re going to do it.”
