Tyler Mosienko, an unsung hero of Sheffield Steelers, can drive them to a significant double win this weekend, says team-mate Gord Baldwin.
The forward starred in Wednesday’s win over Braehead Clan and will be a key figure tonight when Sheffield try to close the gap on the Scots by beating Belfast Giants.
“Mosey always shows up prepared every night, he is a true professional” says Baldwin, who will miss tonight’s game and tomorrow’s Challenge Cup final against Cardiff Devils with injury.
“He’s a huge factor for us. He’s here for the long haul, playing hard from the first game to the last. I am fortunate to have had the pleasure of being on the ice with him. His line (Rob Dowd/Colton Fretter) has found its chemistry, they read off each other well.”
Steelers fans hope Nottingham Panthers will do them a rare favour tonight by beating pacesetting Clan. “It is going to be a big challenge for Braehead there” said Baldwin. “From start to finish on Wednesday (2-0 win) we showed we were the better team against them so the pressure is on them. They have experienced guys but we will carry on getting all the points we can.”
Baldwin, while frustrated at his own absence, said: “We should take the momentum of Wednesday, where we didn’t give away much defensively, cycled the puck well and attacked with speed, into this weekend and expose the opposition defence like we did Braehead’s.”
