STEVE BIRNSTILL returns to Sheffield Steelers with his new club Braehead Clan tomorrow, expecting a battle royale.
“I don’t think Sheffield have had the start to the season they’d hoped for” he says. “We haven’t had the start we wanted either so both teams have things to prove. I’m expecting a battle; it should be exciting.
“I enjoyed my time in Sheffield. It will be great to see the guys and play in front of the fans again” said the skater, who has effectively traded positions with Jim Jorgensen.
“I keep in touch with a lot of the guys there. I was excited for Ash (Tait) when he broke the (Elite) scoring record. Its an accomplishment and a testament to the quality of player he is.
I don’t think being in iceSheffield will affect the game too much. There should be lots of puck movement and offensive skill from both sides.”
