SHEFFIELD Steelers’ winger Tylor Michel scored a hat-trick as his team beat Coventry Blaze 7-5 tonight.
But the win came at a cost.
Import forward Cory Pecker suffered a groin injury and is doubtful for tomorrow’s return in the Midlands.
In the first session, tonight, Sheffield had to come back from a goal down to win the stanza 4-2.
Dustin Cameron got the game’s first marker but Ashley Tait equalised.
Similarly Shawn Limpright’s deflection was rubbed out by Mike Schutte.
But scorers Michel and Jonathan Phillips made the most of constant Steelers pressure - stirred on by Drew Fata’s mid-ice fight victory over Gerome Giudice.
Sheffield conceded two goals - netminder John Decaro being caught out by a near post shot shot from distance (Brad Leeb) and then Shea Guthrie levelled on 30 minutes.
But a power play strike from James Jorgensen sent Steelers into the dressing room at the second interval 5-4 up.
The unpredictable high-scoring encounter continued in the third period,
Michel skated rink length to grab his second.
And while Guthrie made it 6-5, Michel wrapped things up with an insurance goal.
