Injury victim Danny Bois was out of the line-up for Steelers tonight, missing his home Elite League debut.

The Canadian winger was punched several times in the face at Braehead on Friday and coach Gerad Adams doesn’t want to risk him against the Midlands side.

Ironically, Bois was signed to replace Pascal Morency - whose career has been ended by concussion.

Gerad Adams’ side is also without Dustin Kohn, Jason Hewitt and Luke Ferrara.

A win for Steelers will send them back to the

top of the league.

But both teams cancelled themselves out in the first period.

Michael forney’s opener was equalised by Steve Goertzen, while Cullen Eddy’s 2-1 go-ahead goal was rubbed away by Goertzen’s second of the night.

Sheffield had a boat-load of chances in the middle section, but missed chances and superb stops from Coventry’s Brian Stewart (despite appearing to have groin problems) kept the scoreboard intact.

The game went into overtime and on a 4v3 Power Play Mathieu Roy scooped home the winner from close range.

SATURDAY’S REPORT.

Braehead Clan 5-3 Sheffield Steelers (Final)

Stage two of the heated rivalry between Braehead Clan and Sheffield Steelers was hosted in Renfrewshire last night - and the bragging rights went to the Scots.

There had been bad blood between the sides during Steelers’ 2-0 victory there on Friday night.

Clan skater Zak Fitzgerald was subsequently banned for two games for attacking new Sheffield winger Danny Bois, who was injured in the incident.

Tonight, Steelers started the game hoping to cling on to their newly appointed position at the top of the League.

While title-hunting Ryan Finnerty’s Clan were hoping to put an end to a three-match run of losses.

Sheffield started well, with d-man Darrell Hay opening the scoring on 24;05.

Matt Keith equalised on a power play but Rob Dowd put Sheffield back in charge at 39;30.

Clan, though, scored three in the last session, through ex Steeler Lee Esders, Neil Trimm and Derek Roehl.

There was a late exchange, with an empty netter for Clan from Matt Haywood and Jay Latulippe getting one back with five seconds left.

But Clan got their own back.

* Nottingham Panthers strengthened their hold on fourth position after a 5-3 triumph over Fife Flyers at Fife Ice Arena - thanks to a brace from Robert Lachowicz - as they sit on the same points as Belfast Giants, who slipped into third.

Also on Saturday, Cardiff Devils claimed an impressive 8-3 victory over Coventry Blaze to move up a spot into sixth, while Hull Stingrays moved past basement boys Dundee Stars with a 5-3 win.
