SHEFFIELD Steeldogs are next to bottom of the English Premier League - and keen to get away from that bleak spot.
With 10 points from 12 league games, only Telford have an inferior record in the 10-team division.
It’s frustrating for the iceSheffield fans, especially after starting the season so well.
This weekend’s fixtures are challenging ones, too.
Tomorrow they host Peterborough Phantoms (7.30pm) before travelling to Manchester Phoenix on Sunday.
Phantoms have recently shut out both Slough and Telford so Steeldogs will need to concentrate on containing their forwards and cut past Peterborough’s improving defence and on-form goalie.
The game counts towards the EPL Cup as well as the League in a must-win game. But after four straight losses, Dogs need a confidence booster before head to table-topping Manchester.
Dogs say coach Andre Payette has been working hard with his team during this week to get them back to their early good form and “will be looking for goal scoring and tighter defence.”
A spokesman said: “With the lowest placed teams continuing to pick up wins against higher teams, the points gap is tight, though Manchester are league leaders after gaining extra points through overtime losses.”
