SHEFFIELD Steeldogs will tonight be determined to prove their pre-season silverware success was no fluke.
Andre Payette’s men host Manchester Phoenix (7.45pm;) the team they beat in the War of the Roses Challenge Cup series.
Ahead of tonight’s League game, Payette said: “Manchester are going through a little of what we are going through.
“Both sides have added new players and are going through the learning process of knowing where everyone fits in on their respective teams. So with both teams not entirely happy with their starts, it makes tonight’s game even more important.
“We need to come out strong from the start and play with passion and intensity. I know after a good hard week of practice, our guys will be ready and if all of us give it everything, then we should come out on top.”
Manchester have just received an 8-2 thumping from Milton Keynes in an 8-2 away loss, while Steeldogs lost on home ice to Bracknell Bees Manchester though, had the morale booster of a home win the following night and seeing their new combination of import forwards, Joaquim Flaten and Michal Psurny share the three goals.
Payette appeals to all Sheffield hockey fans to some big support to their Sheffield team against Steeldogs’ arch rivals, who, will be travelling over in numbers.
