SHEFFIELD Steeldogs head toward Friday’s home match with Manchester Phoenix needing to iron out an unwanted habit of conceding three early goals.
Andre Payette’s men went 0-3 behind at home to Bracknell Bees, eventually losing 4-2.
Payette said: “I was very disappointed with the result on Saturday, when again we had a slow start and let in three early goals.
“We are not the type of team who can go down by three goals and keep being able to come back.
“However, we dominated the second and third periods again and I thought we should have won, but this aspect is something we are working on really hard to correct this week.
“We need to spend the week working hard to get ready for the derby game against Manchester on Friday, as already this is becoming a very important game for us.”
Matt Foord, Lukas Smital and Rob Lamey had put Bees in the driving seat by 18:52.
Steeldogs to clawed one goal back via a blast from Dmitri Rodin at 25:17 during a 5-on-3 powerplay. The middle stanza saw Greg Wood reducing the deficit further at 33:26 (assisted by Craig Elliott and Payette)
But it was Lamey who sealed the win with an empty net goal in the final minute. Rodin was awarded Dogs’ man of the match.
