sHEFFIELD Steelers shut up shop defensively tonight and romped to a 3-0 win over Hull Stingrays.
Steelers are determined to maintain recent improvement in defensive cover and can have no complaints about tonight’s blueline show at Sheffield Arena this evening.
Stingrays, looking to respond following Friday night’s 8-2 home defeat by Coventry Blaze, were again without leading goalscorer Jereme Tendler through illness.
They fell behind in the fifth minute to a Matt Stephenson strike before Andrew McKinney and Steelers defenceman Chad Huttel received five-minute fighting majors.
Jeff Legue doubled Steelers’ lead with 47 seconds of the middle session remaining and victory was wrapped up with 21 seconds left through Luke Fulghum, with goaltender Geoff Woolhouse, who posted a 30-shot shut-out, picking up an assist.
