Sheffield came back from being two down after the first period to win by three with new signing RG Flath netting himself a brace.
The visitors opened the scoring with a strike from Jeff Hutchins at 5.29. However, they only held that lead for twenty seconds before Flath got his first. A double from John Dolan shocked the home support as the Stars took a two-goal lead the first of these came at 9.20 on the powerplay and then at 15.59 for the visitors to go in at the break with a two goal lead.
The hosts pulled one back with a goal from Rod Sarich at 22.57 but 62 seconds later Chris Zarb restored the Stars two-goal lead. Flath with his second of the game at 26.36 cut the leeway to one once again and that was how it remained after forty minutes.
Within the first two minutes of the third period, Steelers had turned a one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead. With 35 seconds on the clock, Lee Esders scored to make it four apiece and then Colt King at 41.41 put the hosts in front for the first time.
They increased their lead with as Rod Sarich with his second scored at 45.50. The visitors had put so much into the game they did manage to pull it back to a one-goal game at 49.28 as Brent Hughes netted.
The visitors ran into penalty trouble in the last two minutes of the game and at the same time lost any chance, they had of getting anything from this game. Steelers player/coach Ryan Finnerty with a powerplay goal at 58.11 followed by another powerplay goal from King at 59.48 completed the scoring.
