GB Under-20 coach Andre Payette - team boss at Sheffield Steeldogs -has announced his resignation from the Great Britain set up.
Payette said: “I would like to thank IHUK for giving me the opportunity to coach the GB Under-20s, it was an honour I will never forget.
“Due to my commitments with the Sheffield Steeldogs and the Sheffield junior program, it has become evident that I would not be in a position to dedicate the time needed to prepare the squad for the coming year.”
Payette led GB U20s to a fifth-placed finish at the recent World Championship (Division 1B) in Ukraine in December.
Jim Anderson, vice-president of Ice Hockey UK, said: “IHUK are very grateful for the work Andre has delivered to accelerate the talent of our GB U20 team.
“Andre is very competitive and we understand he is disappointed with how the tournament concluded.
“Tony Hand will begin his search for a new Under-20s coach in the coming months.”
