Sheffield Steelers’ assistant coach Marc Lefebvre has admitted the loss of Ryan Menei was a considerable reverse for the title-hunting club.
Menei was the right wing Steelers signed in June to be their arch goal threat, but the Canadian subsequently pulled out.
Lefebvre said: “It was a big blow, there is no disguising that. But we’ve brought in Maxime Lacroix (top scored for Odense, Denmark last season.) He has great experience in the AHL (119 games Hershey Bears/Hamilton Bulldogs) and he’ll get a pile of goals for us.
“Maxime had his first year in Europe last year and it took a while to adjust but he’ll be more comfortable here and will be one of the better players in the League.”
