Matsos must revolutionise Steelers

SHEFFIELD Steelers' coach Dave Matsos will have to revolutionise his entire team-building strategy to cope with the loss of star forward Ashley Tait, The Star can reveal today.

There is no homegrown player of sufficient quality available to could replace British winger Tait like-for-like - which means Matsos will have to bring in an import.

As Elite League rules allow only 10 per club it will mean Sheffield will need six overseas forwards rather than five, as they had last year.

With an import netminder on the way (probably Basingstoke Bison's American Kevin Reiter) that leaves room for just three import defencemen.

Matsos still wants to retain a five-man rotating defence, so The Star believes he will chase another British blue-liner.
