IceSheffield's EPL side in the Dog house

Sheffield Steeldogs must try and climb back into the Play Off places after losing both games last weekend.

The English Premier League side dropped to ninth place, but next Saturday's home game against Telford Tigers (7.30pm) gives them the opportunity to bounce back.

Dogs lost 6-3 at Swindon Wildcats and were then shut down 5-0 at home by Milton Keynes on Sunday.

After a good start at Swindon, things went downhill, with the Sheffield side letting a first period 2-1 lead slide. First period goals came from Bauba for the Wildcats and Jann Ozolins and Andre Payette for the Steeldogs, before a pair from Hoog and one each from Liska and Knight saw the lead change by the end of the second. Wildcats player coach Ryan Aldridge dropped the gloves with Andre Payette almost exactly halfway through the game, a bout that didn't produce a clear winner, and more importantly did not revitalise the Steeldogs.

The Wildcats added just one more in the final period, Jonas Hoog completing his hat trick into the empty net late in the game after Stuart Brittle had pulled one back with a backhander from close range in the middle of the period. Hoog and Brittle picked up the man of the match awards. At iceSheffield on Sunday night, Milton Keynes Lightning scored five unanswered goals, three of them on the powerplay against a Steeldogs team that struggled against a stream of minor penalties. Stuart Brittle picked up his second man of the match award of the weekend.
