Sheffield Steelers took an early lead at troubled Coventry Blaze tonight and despite briefly going behind at the half-way point deserved to take both points in regulation time.

Coventry, who have been struggling recently, conceded on six minutes with the visitors on the Power Play.

Tyler Mosienko was the scorer, his skills too much for a stationary home defence.

Sheffield are hoping to build on their 4-1 win on Friday against Cardiff Devils.

And they looked value for the lead at the first interval.

But Blaze were a different proposition after the break and Steve Goertzen equalised two minutes in.

And at 31;46 Coventry sharpshooter Ryan O’Marra put his team ahead.

But Sheffield took just two minutes to get back on even terms, Rob Dowd doing the business.

And they improved on that with a Rod Sarich go-ahead strike at 35;04.

Man of the match Mike Forney, who had just grabbed a brace of assists, made it 4-2 at 36;14 - the final decisive act of a super five-goal session.

Steelers defended Frank Doyle’s net well in the later stages to ensure the points.

*Former Sheffield Steelers skipper Rob Wilson is rumoured to be appointed the next coach of Great Britain’s men’s team.
