Wednesday sees the first meeting of the season between Edinburgh Capitals and Steelers.
Steelers' cross-Conference games were the important results that ended up clinching Sheffield a league title, last season.
Steelers dropped just five points (out of 40) against the likes of Edinburgh, Dundee, Fife, Hull and Braehead.
They need to make sure they get off to the best start they can this year against Gardner Conference side, tomorrow at iceSheffield
Five things about the clubs:
1. The Steelers highest ever scoreline in the EIHL was against the Edinburgh Capitals. 15th January 2011 was the date they put 18 goals past the Caps – don't hold your breath for a repeat.
2.Steelers history will be made tomorrow. Jason Hewitt will play his 627th Steelers game – that breaks the previous attendance record set by 'Rocket' Ron Shudra.
3.One goal needed by Jeff Legue for his 250th as a Sheffield Steeler – only last week he scored his 100th goal at the Sheffield Arena. The game will be his 497th for the club as he closes in on the Steelers 500 Club.
4. Over the years Steelers and Caps (in their different guises) have had many connections. From Edinburgh to Sheffield the likes of Alex Dampier, Tony Hand, Scott Neil, Gerad Adams and Doug Christensen. From Sheffield to Edinburgh went Jason Lafreniere, Marc Lefebvre and back again went Scott Neil.
5. Steelers beat Edinburgh (then known as Murryfield Racers) to claim their very first Play Off Championship back in 1995 at Wembley – present day Capitals owner Scott Neil was playing for the Steelers on that day
