Brittle back for Scimitars
SHEFFIELD SCIMITARS have stored their faith in a forward who has suffered a serious shoulder injury - the type that can end careers.
Stuart Brittle was hurt while playing in China recently, competing for GB Universities.
Scimitars' coach Jon Robotham has spoken at length with Brittle and is convinced his rehabilitation will be complete before the puck drops in the 2009-10 campaign.
Brittle is described by the club as "a workhorse giving no less than 100% every time he is on the ice."
Rowbotham says: "Brittle has got an amazing engine, failure is not in his make-up and he is able to win a high percentage of the 50/50 mid-ice battles. He contributed greatly to the Scimitars cause last season putting 27 points together, (24 of them assists.)
"This proves Brittle is a great playmaker who can create great opportunities in all areas of the ice."
Brittle will be joined on the roster again by ex-Steelers squad player Simon Butterworth, one of the most technically gifted skaters in the English Premier League.
Rowbotham said: "Buttsy is a high profile player, having played Elite level hockey and winning GB gold medals.
"Last season I was impressed with his 'never say die' attitude. He's a direct player who can create great offensive opportunities, is capable of putting numbers on the board (31 points last season) and producing some breath-taking plays."
