Sheffield Steelers took an early lead at Belfast Giants tonight - but despite a tight finish they ended up empty handed.
At 5;53 Sheffield captain Steve Goertzen scored at the Odyssey.
Just 54 seconds later, ex Steeler Colin Shields levelled.
And by 7;07 Belfast had turned the game on its head with Robby Sandrock putting the Irish ahead.
Tim Spencer is a quality fighter and he hurt Adam Keefe in a mid-ice battle at 11.54.
The game was nip-and-tuck, but Belfast increased their advantage with a killer third, when Shields popped in his his second of the night at 39.55.
But Jeff Legue halved their lead to 3-2 with 1.40 left.
Steelers hooked their goalie looking for the equaliser.
But Sandrock scored an Empty Net Goal - and Giants’ Kevin Saurette rubbed it in with another ENG 24 seconds later to make it a flattering scoreline for Doug Christiansen’s former team.
