A defining schedule
Jonathan Phillips
STEELERS tonight embark on the start of a manic schedule of matches that will define whether or not they are to lift the Elite League championship.
Sheffield’s match with Hull Stingrays this evening is the first of 11 games in 23 days.
And skipper Jonathan Phillips says the team recognises that success or failure depends on this merciless section of the season.
“We are getting near the business end of the season and we all know how critical it is to get off to a good start,” said the winger.
“We have gone nine games unbeaten and simply have to keep that run going. Every game is important.”
Phillips, who missed a fair proportion of the season with injury added: “Staying healthy is going to be key and at the moment we don’t have any significant injuries.”
Long term absentee Rod Sarich is skating again – and he may be able to prove his fitness to wrestle back a defensive place before the play-offs.
