A weightlifting couple from Tupton are basking in the joy of success at the World Championships.
Eric Dolman and wife Lynn competed at the 2015 World Weightlifting Masters Championships in Rovaniemi, Finland last month.
And the duo posted excellent results with Eric lifting bronze and Lynn sealing world championship gold.
Eric, aged 80, competed in the over-80s category and came up against opponents from Russia, Japan and Germany and posted a credible bronze medal finish.
Meanwhile, 67-year-old Lynn competed in the 65+ category and sealed an excellent first-place finish after seeing off a large field.
The victory completed a memorable haul of victories in the calendar year for Lynn.
Up to now she has won the Northern, British, European, International, and now the World title and has broken numerous records along the way.
Eric told the Derbyshire Times that his and Lynn’s terrific results was largely down to stringent practice in their garage at home.
He said: “We were very happy with how we did out in Finland.
“If you look at the prior world championships that we have competed in, then this is the best that we have done.
“I competed in Italy and Denmark previously, and the best I came was fifth.
“This time I increased my weights by 5kg each time which put alot of pressure on my opponents as people usually only go up by 2kg each time.
“I really went to town in practicing for this event.
“We practice in the garage and at the moment, because it’s still relatively warm, it’s okay.
“But it’s terrible in the winter when we have to go in there with our hats, coats and jumpers on.
“I don’t know how we do it!”
