Charlie Longsdon is still undecided whether to run Magnifique Etoile in the 32Red Novices’ Hurdle at Sandown tomorrow.
The Grade One event, registered as the Tolworth Hurdle, has attracted some top-class prospects which include Colour Squadron, Prospect Wells and unexposed French import Captain Conan.
Longsdon`s five-year-old has won three novice hurdles this season by an aggregate of 47 lengths and looks a potential star for the yard, who had the misfortune of losing flag-bearer Hidden Keel on Sunday.
“I still haven’t decided if he’s running or not,” said Longsdon.
“I really don’t want to flog the guts out of him on desperate ground.
“He’s such a nice horse that I don’t want to ruin him at this stage of the season when there are so many races later on that he could run in on nice ground.
“I really think a lot of him and he’a really nice horse, so we’ll see what else is running first.”
Colour Squadron can make the leap to Grade One level with victory in the race.
Winner of a Chepstow bumper on his racecourse bow in October, Colour Squadron looks an animal of real potential.
