Lorimer’s Lot has slipped to a most appealing handicap mark and can cash in at Newcastle.

Part-owned by former Leeds United star and Scotland international Peter Lorimer, the four-year-old filly must have every chance in the Newcastle Flooring Fillies’ Handicap.

The daughter of Camacho is 11lb lower in the weights than when she last won a race, at Ripon in April 2014, and served notice at Beverley last week her time is near.

Despite having been pinched for room inside the 200 yards of a five-furlong handicap, Mark Walford’s inmate stayed on resolutely to finish fourth, beaten just two lengths.

That run was a huge step up on her wayward form towards the end of last season.

It was also noteworthy as it was Lorimer’s Lot’s first outing since October, so she should be far fitter at Gosforth Park.

Duran Fentiman, who has been at the helm for the filly’s two career victories, is, perhaps significantly, back on top.

Secret Spirit ought to go close in the Bet & Watch At Handicap at Nottingham.

Clive Cox’s filly should be flickering with intent for her latest assignment on the back of a pleasing return to the fray at Doncaster on May 2.

Secret Spirit was beaten just a neck by the likeable Tohfa in a six-and-a-half-furlong handicap, in which she was only worried out of it late on after a seven-month absence.

Reverting to a slightly shorter trip looks a good piece of business for a horse considered good enough to run in the Weatherbys Super Sprint as a juvenile.

Haadeeth is not getting any younger, but should have what it takes to win the Gardner’s Glorious Gallop Handicap at Chepstow.

The eight-year-old, trained by David Evans, overcame a difficult draw over five furlongs here on May 1 when he kept on for second place behind Powerful Wind, with the useful Tarooq quite a bit away in third.
