Veteran performer Regal Parade can teach his younger rivals a thing or two by landing the totepool Handicap at Chelmsford.

Now an 11-year-old, Regal Parade has enjoyed plenty of days in the sun, not least when winning the 2009 Sprint Cup at Haydock and landing the Prix Maurice de Gheest in France the following year after graduating from claiming the likes of the Ayr Gold Cup during his handicap career.

His ability has obviously diminished with the passing of years but his enthusiasm endures and he has shown up well a couple of times this year for new handler Charlie Wallis.

Rated 119 in his pomp, Regal Parade now lines up off a very workable mark of 85 - the same perch as when he won a competitive Newmarket event last August.

Third on his return from over 200 days off the track, Regal Parade felt the benefit of that Chelmsford run when returning to the Essex course to claim second in a very similar event to this. He clearly remains competitive at this level and would be a popular winner.

At the other end of the scale, Fine View will be having just the second run of her career in the Charles Tritton 50th Maiden Stakes.

Saeed bin Suroor’s charge had just one juvenile start last year, finishing third in what appeared to be a fair event at Lingfield after running far too green to do herself justice.

She should have learnt plenty for the experience and it will be disappointing if she cannot win a race like this in due course.

Solo Hunter is the choice in the Beverley Folk Festival Here 19-21 June Handicap despite having to contend with a 9lb rise in the weights on the Westwood.

Twice a winner for David Evans last year, Solo Hunter opened his account for Martyn Meade with a pillar-to-post five-length win at Leicester last month. He admittedly enjoyed the run of the race that day but he had plenty in reserve and could still have a touch more to come.
