The application of a hood worked for Zac Brown last time and the headgear will be in place once again as he bids for a quickfire double in the Daily Enhanced “Magic Multiples” At Unibet Handicap at Southwell.

The four-year-old ran up against some decent horses in his juvenile days and had to wait for his three-year-old debut to land a first win, doing the business at odds of 1-7 at Thirsk in June.

However, he lost his way a bit during the summer and only really started to shine when switched to the all-weather in October, finishing third at Wolverhampton before stepping up on that to win at the track the following month.

Zac Brown could not back that up when next seen, as under a 7lb higher weight, he took a keen grip and never really gave himself a chance to win as he burned so much energy in the early stages.

His fourth place was not so bad under the circumstances but the hood for his last outing certainly seemed to do the trick as he settled much better off an admittedly stronger gallop to run out a ready winner.

Deuce Again is no stranger to the Southwell track having shed her maiden tag at the Nottinghamshire venue at the beginning of the month and she is worth supporting as she goes for a double in the coral.co.uk Handicap. The Dubawi filly failed to strike in two turf starts last summer but she shaped with much more promise when switched to sand in what was something of a penalty kick.

Sent off a 1-3 favourite, Deuce Again triumphed by nearly four lengths with any amount in hand to earn an initial rating of 84 from the handicapper. That leaves her with plenty to find on the top horse, Solidarity, as well as one or two of the others, but she is very unexposed with only three runs to date.
