It Must Be Faith deserves to have a touch more fortune upon his return to action at Southwell.

Things did not go the way of Mick Appleby’s five-year-old in January, but he has a fine chance of redressing the balance in the Daily Enhanced “Magic Multiples” At Unibet Handicap.

The gelded son of Mount Nelson finished the Flat season with a bit of a rattle, having landed back-to-back victories at Nottingham.

It has not quite gone to plan this year, though, as Must Be Faith twice missed out at Chelmsford when sent off favourite in five-furlong sprint handicaps.

Be that as it may, the first of those runs, on January 11, still reads well as he got to within three and a quarter lengths of impressive winner Zac Brown in a much better race than this.

He had to be switched wide for a run that day, too, which hardly helped matters.

It was a similar story back at Chelmsford 12 days later as he could never quite get on terms after having missed the break.

It Must Be Faith was also pinched for room two furlongs out before he charged home to finish second behind Dynamo Walt.

Moreover, the form looks sound as the winner has since finished runner-up in a class two handicap at Lingfield.

It Must Be Faith is now on a career-high mark of 84, but that is only 1lb higher than when he ran so well at Chelmsford.

A mini-break should also have done him the power of good.

Flow can turn on the style in the Bet toteexacta Handicap at Chelmsford.

The five-year-old has gamely fought his corner in strong races during the close season and was an unlucky-in-running fourth in a class two at Wolverhampton in December.

David Brown’s Lincoln entrant has gone well in the past as a fresh horse so fitness will not be an issue after a break of just over 80 days.

Forty Crown is worthy of close scrutiny when he runs in the Download The winner.co.uk App Now Handicap Chase at Carlisle.
