Farlow can take advantage of a drop in grade to get back to winning ways in the Tennent’s Lager Handicap at Ayr.

Richard Fahey’s charge is without a victory since Thirsk in April, but is now just 1lb higher than that winning mark.

Since then he has been tried in some quite exalted company at the likes of Epsom and Newbury, but the cards have just not fallen right for him.

He appears to be as good over seven furlongs as a mile - he was fourth in the consolation Lincoln on his first outing of the season - but was taken off his feet in the Ayr Silver Cup last time out.

Back up in trip, off his lowest mark for some time, with some cut in the ground and down in class, Farlow has a lot going for him.

Hugo Palmer has enjoyed a very good season with his juveniles, highlighted by the exploits of Aktabantay and New Providence, and he could register another winner with Silvery Blue in the EBF Stallions - Terrific Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Wolverhampton.

A daughter of Paco Boy, she is related to several winners and ran a race full of promise on her debut at Kempton.

She never looked likely to win but stayed on pleasingly to be second to Koptoon, who had the benefit of two previous runs.

She is likely to know much more about the job now and James Doyle has been booked to take the ride.

The Bids5 Bookies Screen Systems Conditions Stakes looks a fascinating contest but the safest option maybe Marco Botti’s Solar Deity.

Last seen finishing a close fourth behind Grandeur on All-Weather Champions Day, he has been given a lengthy break through the summer.

That is no surprise as he appears better suited to an artificial surface and Botti can certainly ready one after an absence.

The form pick is Godolphin’s Emirates Flyer, last seen finishing third behind Toast Of New York in the UAE Derby, but he is likely to be having a prep run or two before heading back out to Dubai.
