White-hot sprinter Maljaa has been found a superb opportunity at Leicester in which to keep his winning run intact.

The three-year-old gelding is on the march, having pounced on his last three runs, and can further strengthen the form figures in the SIS Autumn Sprint Handicap.

Potential dangers abound in this five-furlong dash, but all seven of his rivals are out of form.

Now rated 107, it would be a bit of a shock if Roger Varian’s inmate did not cut loose once again.

Maljaa does not win by far, but he continually belies his tender years by showing laudable grace under pressure.

That was certainly the case at Haydock towards the end of September when he held off the five-year-older Confessional by a neck in a valuable sprint handicap.

It was heart-in-the-mouth stuff, but Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum’s representative always seemed in control of matters on Merseyside.

The blinkers that have served him so well stay on at Leicester, which has to be good news, while he has also won on variants of going so should handle anything Mother Nature throws at him.

Top weight and a 5lb rise from Haydock does not look a particularly ominous burden for a horse who looks to be going places very quickly indeed.

Stags Leap is worthy of support in the Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing Handicap at Musselburgh.

Now trained in Middleham by the unheralded Julia Brooke, the versatile eight-year-old made a really encouraging return to the Flat at Newcastle in late August, having previously won three on the spin over hurdles.

Stags Leap was simply unfortunate at Gosforth Park as he bumped into a well-handicapped rival from Peter Chapple-Hyam’s yard.

The gelded son of Refuse To Bend beat the rest of the field in an extended mile-and-a-half handicap by upwards of seven lengths, so the form is there for all to see.
