Ishiamiracle can finally banish a maddening sequence of results by winning the 32Red On App Store Handicap at Brighton.
Phil McEntee’s filly has not won since October 2012, but that unwanted statistic can be stricken from the record at the 18th attempt.
Key to her chances by the seaside is the likelihood of soft ground. The daughter of Ishiguru’s last success was achieved in a Yarmouth bog, while conditions were also on the testing side when she ran with a degree of promise at Chepstow in September.
Ishiamiracle attempted to make all of the running in a tight seven-furlong handicap and only went down by a length and three-quarters to Just Isla.
That form probably does not amount to a great deal, but it was still heartening to see McEntee’s runner fire again from the front.
With this return to six furlongs of little consequence, expect jockey David Probert to adopt similarly forceful tactics aboard a horse who is now 13lb lower than when she was last victorious 12 months ago.
Theodore Gericault can atone for a luckless outing earlier this month by winning a nice prize at Kempton.
Sir Michael Stoute’s three-year-old found his path blocked at a significant time during a one-mile-three-furlong handicap, but he still stayed on powerfully for third spot.
The gelded son of Sir Percy was only beaten a length and a half by two decent sorts in Cashpoint and Markttag but would have got much closer had scrimmaging not occurred inside the final furlong.
Theodore Gericault has not quite lived up to his early-season promise, but this previous all-weather scorer has done enough to suggest the transition to just shy of a mile and a half would be very much the way forward in the Follow Us On Twitter @BetVictor Handicap.
Sweeping Rock is also worth another try in the Book Now For Christmas Festival Handicap.
