County hit by festival fever

Organisers of the fourth annual Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival (July 16-24) promise a showcase of “colour, drama and excitement of racing” along with live music, entertainment and stable visits.

Looking forward to this year’s festival, Simon Channon, chairman of Go Racing in Yorkshire, said: “We’re looking to build on the successes of the past three years, as the festival becomes an established part of the Yorkshire racing calendar.”

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire,said “Racing is a perfect day out for all the family and we hope to make this year’s event even bigger and better.”

Festival dates: Saturday, July 16: Ripon; Sunday, July 17: Redcar; Monday (evening), July 18: Beverley; Wednesday, July 20: Catterick; Thursday (evening), July 21: Doncaster; Friday, July 22: Thirsk; Friday (evening), July 22: York; Saturday, July 23: York and Sunday, July 24: Pontefract.
