TIMO Glock is heading home.
The former Toyota ace will be one of six German drivers competing at the Nurburgring circuit next weekend.
Round 10 of the Formula One calendar promises to be a special weekend for Glock, reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher, Nico Rosberg and Nick Heidfeld.
Marussia Virgin Racing driver Glock, who finished 16th at the British Grand Prix last weekend, is itching to get back on track and is confident the backmarkers can achieve another double race finish in Germany.
Glock is poised to take part in the Formula Sochi Speed Festival today and tomorrow to promote the much-anticipated inaugural Russian Grand Prix. Both he and teammate Jérôme d’Ambrosio will drive around a temporary circuit built around the Black Sea resort on Sunday as the fledgling F1 outfit gear up for Sochi 2014.
Virgin are significantly backed by Moscow-based business Marussia Motors. By that stage, major investor Marussia want the team be in contention for a podium place.
Of the trip, Glock said: “I can’t wait to visit Sochi and show the Russian fans what a Formula One car can do.
“I’m sure we’ll get the chance to put on a really good show and start to build an important relationship with a country that the team is already starting to think of as home.”
