IT’S all uphill for competitors in one of the local sporting calendar’s oldest events tomorrow.
The A4E Monsal Hill Climb in Derbyshire is well into its ninth decade as 120 cyclists young and old, professional or amateur take on the 675 yard climb.
Starting in intervals from 11am riders will power up the hill hoping to win the Dick Aldridge Memorial Trophy.
Last year’s winner, Russell Downing of Team Sky, is absent and so is past winner Charles Taylor. Favourite is national hill climb champion Matt Clinton. The course record is held by Malcolm Elliott with a time of one minute 14.2 seconds, set in 1981.
