Harris happy to take backseat in Scotland

SHEFFIELD'S Karl Harris has admitted the pressure is off this weekend as he bids to get his ViSK British Superbike campaign back on track in Scotland.

The 29-year-old will enjoy three days out of the spotlight at Knockhill, with Hydrex Honda team-mate and Scot Stuart Easton returning to his native land.

Harris has had to get used to playing second fiddle to Easton this season after picking up just two podium finishes compared to his team-mate's five. The Yorkshire flyer hasn't been helped by minor crashes suffered during round three and four at Donington Park and Thruxton – but Harris believes that will change at Knockhill.

"This weekend is all about Stuart – he is going back to Scotland and I am going to let him deal with everything and that will allow me to concentrate on my job," said Harris – who finished third at Knockhill last season.

"He is a great lad and is doing really well but I am confident knowing what I achieved there last year. I believe I have had a good season so far – the last couple of rounds haven't been ideal just through little injuries more than anything else.

"But now is the time to press on and really get some podiums for myself. There is still a long way to go and anything can happen with the amount of races that are left."

Harris – who trails Championship leader Leon Camier by 130 points – will head to the Scottish circuit with added confidence having spent a day testing there with Easton.

The Hydrex Honda duo completed over 60 laps at Knockhill – but Harris insisted that may not give them as big of an advantage as first thought.

"I just tested the suspension at Knockhill and we didn't really plan to do anything else," he added. "It was good to get on the bike and build some confidence. I hope it makes a difference but there seem to be people at the moment who just turn up and get straight on with it on the bike."
