The Daiwa/Green Un 2013/14 Club Match Angler Championship reaches its conclusion on Sunday.

Twenty-five section winners from the semi-final go head-to-head at Sykehouse Fisheries when £3,000 worth of Daiwa-sponsored tackle will be up for grabs and the latest reports suggest the Stock Pond is fishing exceptionally well.

Fish were spawning last week but match weights nudging 100lb were still recorded. It seems the most productive method is fishing shallow but big weights are also possible on corn in the margins where big roach will be found among the carp.

Of course, don’t rule out a big catch on pellet waggler and pleasure anglers have had good nets on method feeder with meat or pellet on the hook.

Much will depend on what the weather does. If we get warm and settled conditions then carp will be caught shallow and dominate. A chilly wind would bring silver fish and the feeder into play. Should be a good tactical battle to watch.

The draw takes place at 8.30am on Sunday with fishing between 10am and 4pm and spectators will be made welcome. Should you decide to watch and make a day of it The Old George Inn is just around the corner and serves lunchtime food.

Sykehouse Fisheries is very close to Sykehouse Lock on the New Junction Canal on Mawson Green Lane and Satnav users will find it using the postcode DN14 9AJ.
