It’s been a bumper cross-country season for pupils at Dobcroft Junior School in Sheffield with teams celebrating top results in a number of races.

A team of eight Year 3 & 4 girls won the Sheffield Inter City League last autumn and then went on to take first place at the South Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Finals, Sheffield League Finals and Sheffield City Championships.

They also scooped second place in the end of season relay race.

Dobcroft’s Year 3 & Year 4 boys’ team triumphed at the end of season relay race and came third in the Sheffield City Championships. The Year 5 & 6 boys’ team placed second in the end of season relay race and bagged second place at the South Yorkshire Finals.

Teacher Janine Farrah, said: “All the runners have worked so hard this season to get these results, the whole school is so proud of their team and individual achievements. The children love taking part in all kinds of sports, particularly athletics, and we encourage them to take part in inter-schools races such as the cross-country leagues - it’s very rewarding to see them succeed like they have over the last few months.”
