Non-League: Hallam and Handsworth enjoy goal gluts as Aaron Moxam hits four

The Ambers hit 10 without reply against Retford United, while the Countrymen won 5-0 for the second time in the space of just four days at Sandygate Road.

Handsworth have now won all four games in November and they had little trouble sweeping aside a sorry Retford side.

It took just six minutes for the home side to take the lead as Simon Harrison tucked away a simple chance from six yards.

Aaron Moxam doubled the lead on 19 minutes, added a third and then completed an eight minute hat-trick with a fine finish with just 27 minutes on the clock.

Two minutes later Danny Buttle made it five after Moxam had unselfishly squared the ball. And it became 6-0 on 35 minutes as Alex Rippon found a yard of space to head in from Buttle’s free-kick to leave Retford well and truly on the ropes.

There was no let up for the visitors in the second half as Froggatt added a seventh just before the hour with a smart turn and finish inside the area.

Gareth Griffith got in on the scoring act and Harrison thumped a shot into the roof of the net for his second, making it 9-0 with 17 minutes still to play.

The inevitable tenth arrived six minutes later with man-of-the-match Moxam grabbing his fourth, as Handsworth sent out a message to their Premier Division promotion rivals.

Hallam are looking in a strong position in Division One following a comprehensive victory over Eccleshill, which saw Ryan Hindley’s side climb to fourth - and just four points behind the second automatic promotion slot with three games in hand.

After the Senior Cup success over Premier Division Athersley, it was back to the bread and butter of the league and the ultimate target of clinching promotion back to the top flight after a six-year absence.

Hallam were in front on 12 minutes as Tom Roebuck scored from the penalty spot awarded after Anthony Wilson had been fouled.

Callum Greaves quickly added the second, and Jack Hargreaves hit the crucial third a minute from the interval.

New signing Oliver Beaumont, from Shirebrook Town, made it 4-0 with his very first touch at the back post.

Matty Ord put the icing on the cake with the fifth three minutes from time - and on this form, you wouldn’t bet against Hallam finishing in the top two.

Penistone Church opened up a four point lead at the top with a 1-0 home win against Glasshoughton Welfare, thanks to Dale Kelly’s sixth-minute goal.

Dronfield Town had to settle for a point from a 1-1 home draw against ten-men Yorkshire Amateur, after Charles Bradwell’s stunning 35-yard effort had given Town a 22nd minute lead.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic were well beaten 5-1 at promotion chasing Pontefract Collieries where Mark Stuart hit the Briggers’ late consolation effort.

Rossington Main’s new boss Chris Glarvey had to settle for a point from a 2-2 draw in his first game in charge at bottom of the table Nostell MW despite twice leading through ex-manager Lee Holmes and Jason Stokes.

Parkgate remain anchored to the foot of the Premier Division following a 2-0 home defeat against in-form Bridlington Town. A goal in each half saw the Seasiders make it 10 league wins on the spin.

Armthorpe Welfare also remain in relegation trouble following a 4-2 home defeat by Clisptone. Maltby Main and Worksop Town fought out a 1-1 draw at Muglet Lane.

But Staveley MW went down 3-2 at Inkersall Road to a late goal against Hemsworth MW.

And it’s just one win in the last six for Athersley Recreation after they were beaten 4-1 at home by fourth-placed Pickering Town. Lee Garside’s 65th minute effort, his first for the club, proved no more than a consolation effort.
