Goodison out to learn from Champs

Have your say

BRINSWORTH’s Paul Goodison has vowed to rectify his weaknesses after failing to land a medal at the ISAF Sailing World Championships.

The 34-year-old appeared on course for a medal in the Laser in Western Australia up until the ninth and 10th qualifying races and was second behind favourite Tom Slingsby.

However, a less than impressive display of 21st and 11th on Saturday demoted him to sixth ahead of Sunday’s top-10 medal race where he finished fifth for one place higher up in fifth overall. Slingsby sailed away with gold and won the medal showdown while Brit Nick Thompson jumped from third to silver after a second in that closing race of the Championships.

“All in all, I think I have learnt a little bit and identified some more things to work on,” said Goodison.
