Danny Willett is in action tomorrow at the Iberdrola Open in Majorca after finishing tied for 24th at last week’s Spanish Open.
The Sheffield golfer, aged 23, has endured a frustrating run of form on the greens in recent tournaments but is hoping perseverance will be key to re-finding his touch with the putter on the Jose Maria Olazabal designing Pula Golf Club course.
He said on his official website: “I was thinking of taking the week off instead of competing in Majorca this week so that I can try and sort it out but my coach (Graham Walker) reckoned I’d be better off keeping playing and trying to work my way through it.
“It’s not easy especially as it means there is more pressure on the rest of my game. You stand over anything from a five-iron to a sand-iron and you know you need to get it inside three feet or you won’t make a birdie.
“That’s ridiculous really because no player in the world is good enough to keep doing that. I have to believe it will all come right but it’s trying my patience.”
