Lee Westwood’s hopes of winning the Barclays Scottish Open in Inverness were put on hold yesterday as bad weather forced an early end to the second round.
The world number two is among almost half of the field who will return to the Castle Stuart course at 7am this morning.
Westwood was hoping to make progress up the leaderboard to get closer to a trio of players - Graeme McDowell, Scott Jamieson and Peter Whiteford - currently on 11 under par. However, he wasn’t in great form standing level par for the day at the 12th hole, seven under for the tournament, when play was called to a halt.
Fellow Worksop golfer Mark Foster (seven under) was in better touch. Needing at least a top five finish to qualify for The Open next week, he was four under for the day. Sheffield’s Danny Willett is fighting to make the cut at three under.
