Two local amateur golfers represented their country in front of the Sky Sports television cameras in the Four Nations Golf Challenge Grand Final at The Oxfordshire GC.
Shaun Tarplett and Clive Downing (both Hillsborough GC) progressed through several knockout rounds and a regional qualifier to make the 12-man England team.
The Sheffield duo romped to a 6&4 victory in their pairs semi-final against Wales as the team drew 3-3 before losing out in a sudden death play-off.
Tarplett and Downing were in equally good form in their match against Scotland the following day as a 2&1 win helped England grab third place with a 4-2 victory in windy conditions.
Ireland clinched the Four Nations title for the second successive year as they edged a tight final with Wales by a single point.
