LEE Westwood shot the best round of his life, a 60, to open up a five shot lead after the first round of the Thailand Golf Championship at the Amata Spring Country Club.
Starting with four birdies and an eagle, the man from Worksop equalled the lowest ever round on the Asia tour and it bettered his previous best score by a stroke. He had 10 birdies and an eagle.
“My caddy (Billy Foster) thought it was the best round he’d ever seen,” said Westwood. “He said that about my 62 in the Nedbank event recently so I must be getting better,” he said.
John Daley is second on 65 with Gregory Bourdet on 68. Yorkshire’s Simon Dyson is on 69.
