Lee can’t get a sniff of Rose

Have your say

LEE Westwood knew that any hopes he had of making a mark in the World Golf Championship in Miami were virtually over after his first round, four over par 76.

Whilst he pulled things together by following up with 67 and 68, he could only look on helplessly as fellow Briton Justin Rose took the honours, doing so after trailing Bubba Watson by three going into the final round.

Thus Rose, who shot a 70 to finish at 16 under par to win by a stroke from Watson with Rory McIlroy a further shot behind, joined Tony Jacklin and Luke Donald as the only GB players to win four times in the USA - well behind Nick Faldo’s nine wins over there.

Westwood closed with a 72 to finish at 5 under par. Donald finished at 12 under.
