LEE Westwood and Danny Willett are well off the pace heading into today’s second round of the BMW Masters in Shanghai.
Westwood, from Worksop, finished the first day with a two under par 70 while Sheffield’s Willett was in a tie for 48th with a level par 72.
Eight shots behind leader Jamie Donaldson, Westwood is in a group that includes fellow Ryder Cup players Luke Donald and Ian Poulter.
Westwood had four birdies in his round but bogeys on the sixth and 17th saw him end the day tied for 22nd.
Willett battled hard to get under par but three birdies and three bogeys wasn’t enough.
Four of the world’s top five and all but one of Europe’s winning Ryder Cup side are in the field.
Donaldson’s 62 was a new course record.
