SHEFFIELD’S Danny Willett remains in contention at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth after a solid second round yesterday.
Willett produced a one under par 71 to move eight shots behind halfway leader James Morrison.
Level par after 17 holes, Willett birdied the last to keep himself in the hunt.
It wasn’t such a good day for Worksop’s World number three Lee Westwood. Bogeys on the 15th and 16th were followed with a double bogey seven at the next, and he was in severe danger of missing the cut at that point.
However, he got up and down from sand on the last for a birdie, a 75 and a one-over total that he knew was likely to be just good enough to survive to the weekend.
World number one Rory McIlroy won’t be around for the final two rounds though as he missed the cut.
