SICKLEHOLME won the Sheffield Union Inter-Club Knockout Foursomes for the first time in their history when beating last year’s champions Wheatley GC in the final at Lindrick.

They beat Bondhay, Doncaster and Phoenix before seeing off Hillsborough in the semi-final with Wheatley defeating Sandhill, Worksop. Beauchief and then Sitwell Park. In the final, Sicklehome’s Richard Kay and Danny Bailey beat Ben Chappell and Steve Bell 3&1 but Wheatley’s Robin Hamshaw and Russ Metcalfe levelled it up with a 5&3 win over Andy Oxley and Neil Hilton.

In a tense final match, the Sickleholme pairing of Andy Naylor and Nigel Matthews came out on top with a decisive 4&3 win against Graham Moss and Mark Davies.
